With this exhibition the Museum offers an original meeting and dialogue between its collections and contemporary art production. The imposing Equestrian Monument to Charles II, Duke of Brunswick, one of Vincenzo Vela’s most iconic works, inspired Valentina Pini’s reflections on the physicality of materials, their symbolic value and their capacity for transformation. The artist juxtaposes works created especially for this show to others made in recent years, such as sculptures, videos and installations, to innovatively interpret the collections and the Museum space, staging narratives and counter-narratives that straddle the border between natural and artificial, fragility and memory.
Valentina Pini (*1982) lives and works in Zurich. She has exhibited her art in many galleries and institutions in Switzerland and abroad. Her works are also held by important public and private collections.
